Dynamic Data Works has joined The Bradfield Centre at Cambridge Science Park. We are developing a Semantic Platform that can generate dynamic data systems. This builds on our aerospace work, and we continue to test the approach against demanding real-world data environments.

Our focus is on specialist data systems within large organisations, designed to complement established enterprise platforms.

Origins in Aerospace

Dynamic Data Works grew out of a data system developed in an aerospace context. We built easy-to-use configuration tools that allowed users to define what they needed. The corresponding data system was generated from those requirements and recreated as needs changed.

That work provided the practical foundation for our current approach.


From Configuration to Semantic Platform

Our configuration tools allow users to describe their business in intuitive terms. As they work, they implicitly build a semantic model. The platform compiles that model into a tailored data system.

Dynamic Data Works maintains the Semantic Platform, while organisations retain ownership of their semantic models and the data systems compiled from them.


Data Structures That Adapt

Databases and user interfaces need not be static structures. The implementation can change as the business evolves.

Our approach derives the implementation from the semantic model while preserving the underlying business meaning. The structures shape around the data, rather than forcing the data to adapt to the structure.


What Persistent Meaning Makes Possible

We build on open-source technologies and a modular architecture that can evolve as requirements change. Individual technologies can be adapted or replaced without changing the underlying semantic model, reducing dependence on any single technology vendor.

Our Semantic Platform is not an AI platform, but it is designed to incorporate AI where it adds value. Meaning and context can persist independently of any individual AI model or provider, allowing execution technology to change without losing organisational continuity.


Developing the Platform

The approach has been tested against continually changing requirements, forcing us to iterate, learn from failure, change tack when necessary, and resolve a number of difficult conceptual problems.

We are now building that work into a broader Semantic Platform for creating dynamic data systems.
